Billie Eilish news: Everything you need to know before seeing ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (3D)’

Ever wanted to dance in a cinema? Now is your chance with Billie Eilish’s latest movie, hitting cinemas on May 8, writes Music News Blitz’s Harry Perdios.

Picture this: you sink into a leather cinema seat, taste the buttery popcorn on your lips, whilst soaking in the quiet, distancing yourself from the chaos of everyday life.

Then you are transported into a lively arena. Thousands of fans cheer as they count down the minutes until their favourite artist takes the stage.

You feel a rush of adrenaline as the bass of the drums starts, and a figure on stage presents itself...It's Billie Eilish.

That’s just what 24-year-old singer-songwriter Eilish does in her new concert film Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (3D).

Working alongside Academy Award-winning director James Cameron (Titanic and Avatar), the movie plunges audiences into her iconic 2024/2025 Hit Me Hard and Soft tour

The tour spanned 106 shows and drew an attendance of over 1.56 million fans.

Filming

The movie, which was filmed at the Co-op Live in Manchester between July 19-23 2025, highlights live performance clips alongside glimpses of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage.

Through the immersive atmosphere, fans can experience the magic for the first time or relive it all over again.

While showcasing Eilish’s undeniable stage presence and talent.

The London premiere of the film at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square saw Eilish and Cameron take to the red carpet, giving lucky fans who purchased a ticket to the event an early preview of the movie.

What to expect?

Ahead of the film’s official release on May 8, Eilish told Capital that she’s “sorry to the theatres” as she requests fans to sing, dance and not sit still during the screenings, to optimise the live concert feeling.

To ensure the 3D experience truly replicates the feeling of being in the crowd, Cameron and his team invented two new cameras, enhancing Eilish’s unforgettable performances for the big screen.

This newfound technology has proved highly successful, with fans dancing and raving in cinemas during limited preview screenings across the US and UK.

The tour

The film’s immersive quality translates to the tour’s very own intimacy and largely from the staging itself.

The centre-stage layout places fans around her at every angle, creating a deeply personal experience, blurring the line between Eilish and her fans.

This is a true reflection of how Eilish always strives to reach fans in new, inventive methods, whether it’s through her music or live visuals.

Having risen to fame as a teenager with her hit song “Ocean Eyes,” Eilish has become known for her distinctive, raw lyrics and personal connections with her fans.

This artistic direction is seen within her setlist, with fan favourites such as “Happier Than Ever” and “Bad Guy,” and more recent tracks that showcase her evolution as an artist.

Throughout the gig, during songs such as “Everything I wanted,” Eilish makes her way through the crowd, strengthening her bond with fans.
