BST Hyde Park Festival news: Olivia Rodrigo surprises fans as Ed Sheeran joins the stage
Olivia Rodrigo lit up London as she kicked off the BST Hyde Park festival on Friday, June 27 2025, taking the stage as the first headliner for the event.
This year's BST Hyde Park Festival is three weekends long, running from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, July 13, with even more exciting headliners and sets, writes Music News Blitz’s Amelie Da Costa.
The supporting acts
Supporting acts that took to the Great Oak Stage were girl in red and The Last Dinner Party - all lasting around 40 minutes to an hour each - setting the perfect tone for Rodrigo’s set later on.
A couple other bands performed in the lead up to Rodrigo’s set, including BETWEEN FRIENDS who opened the Great Oak Stage at 3:10pm and flowerovlove at 4:10pm - each performing for 30 minutes.
The music wasn’t only performed on the main stage, with many other talented artists and bands taking over the Birdcage Stage and the Rainbow stage too, including Aziya, Ruuit and many more.

Olivia Rodrigo and a surprise guest
At 8:50pm Rodrigo took the stage by storm, opening the set with artistic visuals and extraordinary guitar riffs during one of her most popular songs “bad idea right?” from her recent album Guts which released September 2023.
Surprising her fans, Olivia brought out her special guest of the night Ed Sheeran halfway through the set.
The two took to the stage with their acoustic guitars to sing Sheeran’s 2011 hit song “A Team” - a heartfelt duet that fans enjoyed.
Rodrigo embraced the British spirit by inviting Sheeran out to join her, turning the night into something special and unique for her audience.
A fitting end to a great show
After a quick encore and outfit change, Olivia Rodrigo wrapped up the set with four fan favourite songs from her discography.
She performed “brutal”, “all-american bitch”, “good 4 u” and ended the night on a high with “get him back!”
Overall, her whole set was an incredible start to the festival, with a performance of mixed emotions that had the crowd captivated the whole time.
There are still two more weekends of the BST Hyde Park Festival, and audiences are looking forward to what’s to come.
