K-pop takes Wembley: Blackpink become the second girl group to ever headline Wembley

Blackpink are not only the first K-pop girl group to sell over one million albums, but they are now also the first K-pop girl group to headline Wembley Stadium.

On Friday, August 15, the South Korean group wrapped up the European leg of their world tour on the Wembley stage, following in the footsteps of great artists such as Michael Jackson, Oasis and Taylor Swift.

Music News Blitz writer Evie Scroggie tells us more about this iconic performance.

The Deadline Tour

They began their Deadline tour at the Goyang Stadium in South Korea on July 5, 2025, and it will run until January 25, 2026, finishing at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

The beginning of the tour coincided with the release of a new song, “Jump”, which became a YouTube sensation, with its music video becoming the most-watched video in one day, with an astounding 26 million views.

The band is set to perform 31 dates across 16 cities worldwide in their tour and are expected to break their own record of highest-grossing girl group tour by the end of it - a title they stole from The Spice Girls back in 2022/23.

An amazing show

Members of the band Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa and Jennie took to Wembley stage, performing an energetic 2 and a half hour show, packed with impressive vocals and clean choreography.

The show opened with laser lights and pyrotechnics and completely lit the entire stadium up pink.

Throughout the show, each of the girls got to own their solo moments, but if there were any worries from fans that time apart had made the band’s connection weaker, they were proven so incredibly wrong.

What did the girls think?

“What an absolute honour to be performing here at Wembley Stadium...We are absolutely in awe at all of you guys rocking up and making this possible.” - Lisa.

“It’s an epic dream...It still feels a little unreal.” - Jennie

“The last time we were here [London] was insane, but this was just a whole other level.” - Rosé.

Not only was Blackpink becoming the second girl group ever to headline Wembley Stadium, a big moment for music, but it was also a big one for music history.

It is an incredible achievement for them to follow in the footsteps of such iconic artists before them, and it is an honour well deserved.

I’m looking forward to seeing where their music leads them next.
