Kehlani drops smooth, stripped-back new single ‘Folded’

Kehlani is back with a brand-new solo single titled “Folded”, released on June 11 via Atlantic Records.

The track sees the R&B star return to a softer, more vulnerable sound. It's a mid-tempo, stripped-back song led by guitar licks, with lyrics that offer a calm but clear send-off to a fading relationship.

Lyrically, “Folded” operates as a quiet anthem of closure and emotional gradation.

In lines like “Come pick up your clothes, I have them folded,” she offers a final gesture - both practical and symbolic - of reclaiming peace without the drama of spectacle.

Critics have hailed the track as “R&B magic,” praising its nostalgic, early‑2000s soul influences and Kehlani’s evocative delivery.

The single is produced by Khris Riddick-Tynes, Andre Harris, Donovan Knight and Don Mills, and follows the momentum from last year’s Crash album and the While We Wait 2 mixtape.

“Folded” is her first solo release of 2025, and there’s also a visual to go with it.

No official word yet on whether “Folded” is part of a bigger project, but the surprise release has definitely sparked speculation.

If more music is on the way, this could be the start of a new Kehlani era.
