Music news: Hive Mind comes to life with the most unexpected line-ups
Hardcore metal and hip-hop/rap have always shared the same rebellious spirit, even though they’d rarely appear in the same playlists together, writes Music News Blitz’s Victoria Bruwer.
Earlier this year, Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry proved just how naturally the two worlds collide with the release of "Hive Mind," a relentless crossover that fused crushing breakdowns with razor-sharp rap verses.
Named after the collaborative single, The Hive Mind Tour will see Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry co-headline a massive 24-date North American tour beginning on September 26th in Newport, Kentucky.
The tour will then be making stops in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Denver and more, finishing in Mexico City on November 8th.
As if that wasn't enough, they’ll be bringing along alternative rock favourites Superheaven and metalcore heavyweights Boundaries, making it one of the most exciting lineups announced this year.
More than just a collaboration
"Hive Mind" wasn't created simply because two artists from different genres wanted to experiment.
Knocked Loose frontman Bryan Garris explained that the collaboration had been in the band's mind for years.
"This is something we've talked about doing for a long time. We wondered if we could pull it off and who would be down. In the very beginning, we said for it to work, it would have to be Denzel Curry. Because he gets it."
After hearing the finished track, it's hard to imagine anyone else filling that role.
Lyrically, "Hive Mind" is a rejection of following the crowd.
Tearing through punishing metalcore riffs, explosive breakdowns and frantic tempo changes while Curry's verse attacks conformity head-on, calling out the "hive mind" mentality that inspired the song's title.
Rather than feeling like two artists taking turns, the collab sounds like a natural extension of both of their styles.
Both artists on a roll
The Hive Mind Tour lands at the perfect moment for both headliners.
Knocked Loose have spent much of 2026 touring international stages, including supporting Metallica across Europe while continuing the success of their Grammy-nominated 2024 album You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To.
That record became a landmark moment for the Kentucky band, producing fan favourites like "Suffocate" featuring Poppy and earning the group's first-ever Grammy nomination.
Meanwhile, Denzel Curry continues proving why he's one of rap's most adventurous artists.
Fresh from touring Europe alongside Deftones, Curry recently released the collaborative project Strictly 4 The Scythe, featuring appearances from A$AP Ferg, TiaCorine, BKTHERULA and Key Nyata.
Pairing two artists who constantly push against genre boundaries makes The Hive Mind Tour feel less like a gimmick and more like a celebration of musical experimentation.

Holy lineup
The supporting acts are far more than warm-up bands.
Superheaven have become one of alternative rock's biggest comeback stories.
Originally formed as Daylight in Pennsylvania in 2008, the band built a loyal following through their mix of grunge, emo, post-hardcore and alternative rock before changing their name to Superheaven in 2014.
Although the band stepped away from full-time activity after Ours Is Chrome in 2015, reunion performances slowly brought them back into the spotlight.
Their popularity exploded again in 2023 when their 2013 song "Youngest Daughter" went viral on TikTok, introducing an entirely new generation to their music.
After finally returning with new material in late 2024, Superheaven released their self-titled third album and have just wrapped successful tours across both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Their emotionally heavy, fuzz-soaked sound should fit alongside Knocked Loose's intensity.
Then there's Boundaries, one of metalcore's fastest-growing names.
The Connecticut band signed with Sumerian Records and released their latest album, Yearning: The Unbeautiful After, on July 17th.
Before joining The Hive Mind Tour, they'll host a free community show on August 14th where admission comes through donating school supplies, before appearing on day two of New York's Endless Fires Festival just two days later.
One of the year's most exciting tours
Hardcore, rap, grunge and metalcore all exist under the same roof here, connected by artists who value energy over labels.
It's rare to see a tour where every act feels equally essential.
Whether you're coming for breakdowns, rap verses, soaring grunge hooks or one of the most diverse heavy music lineups of the year, The Hive Mind Tour promises the kind of controlled chaos that fans will be talking about long after the final encore.
