Music’s biggest night: The standout winners from the 2026 Grammys

The most prestigious night for musicians has come and gone; did you miss it? Not to worry, we’re here to give you the rundown!

Here, Music News Blitz’s Megan Rogers-Jones goes through this year’s biggest Grammy awards and tells you more about those who received the awards.

February kicked off the start of the month with a high, with the 68th Grammy Awards taking place in LA on Sunday.

The highlight of the night is always “The Big Four” awards, which are “Song of the Year”, “Record of the Year”, “Best New Artist” and “Album of the Year”.

Song of the Year: ‘Wildflower’ by “Billie Eilish’

Billie Eilish took home her 10th Grammy, with her hit song Wildflower being announced as the song of the year.

From her album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, the song explores themes of guilt, insecurity and complex relationships.

Written with her brother FINNEAS, the song was created in his backyard to capture natural sounds as a backtrack.

Eilish has now won the most songs of the year, holding three victories, with her Barbie song ‘What Was I Made For?’ Winning in 2024 and ‘Bad Guy’ from her debut album winning in 2020.

Record of the Year: ‘Luther’ by “Kendrick Lamar” featuring “SZA”

Lamar was the night’s biggest winner for the second year in a row, taking home five awards.

‘Luther’ was featured on Kendrick Lamar’s GNX album release in 2024, using a sample of the departed R&B and soul singer-songwriter Luther Vandross.

There was quite the confusion when this award was announced by “Cher”, as she announced Luther Vandross winning from beyond the grave.

Best New Artist: “Olivia Dean”

British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean took home her first major global recognition award and received Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys.

Dean has been in the music industry since 2014, gaining attention while touring as a backup vocalist for Rudimental at 17 before going on to release her solo debut in 2018.

She started gaining some traction with EPs between 2019 and 2021 and then went on to release her debut album, ‘Messy’, in 2023, which was nominated for a Mercury Prize.

Despite a long history in the industry, she had a breakthrough year after her album ‘The Art of Loving’, which debuted at number 1 across the world.

Album of the Year: ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ by “Bad Bunny”

Bad Bunny left the Grammys with the biggest award of the night, album of the year.

The Puerto Rican singer rose to fame after uploading music to SoundCloud and being discovered by DJ Luian and signed to “Hear The Music” in 2016.

The rapper is no stranger to Grammy Awards, now having 6 under his belt, and was awarded this year by Harry Styles, who is making his return to the music industry.

This year, he has made history by being the first Latin artist to win Album of the Year in the 68 years of the Grammys.

Bad Bunny is having a big week as he prepares for his performance at this year’s Super Bowl.
