Music analysis: The Bratz soundtracks that deserved to escape the DVD menu
Nostalgia has become one of Gen Z's favourite pastimes, writes Music News Blitz’s Victoria Bruwer.
Whether it's rediscovering old shows or replaying the songs that soundtracked our childhoods, there's something comforting about revisiting the early 2000s.
Many of the biggest hits from that era have found a second life thanks to social media, with forgotten tracks becoming viral sounds and introducing a whole new generation to the music.
But while we've spent years celebrating the fashion, films and pop stars of the 2000s, there's one soundtrack that deserves far more recognition than it gets: the music from the Bratz movies.
The soundtrack of Bugonia: Creating a musical score in a vacuum
One of my favourite films of 2025 was undoubtedly Bugonia, an uncomfortable questioning as to whether or not the fear of aliens is simply true xenophobia and the fear of the unknown, or whether we are merely frightened of the possibility that they might have the same capacity for malice and violence that humans do.
However, the atmosphere and tone of the film were built upon the foundation of something all great films have, that being an amazing musical score.

Even in 2025, one listen to those infectious Disney Channel melodies and the nostalgia hits hard.
A masterful ‘Sinners’ soundtrack - Why Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster was as impressive to the ear as it was on the eye
Set in 1930s Mississippi, Sinners has stolen every headline on its surge to success on our screens and as with any brilliant film, the music is wonderfully crafted to match, writes Gabriel Mills for Music News Blitz.
Review: Back to the Future: The Musical - Time well spent or a waste of time?
It was a sunny Friday evening in March of 2025, when my girlfriend Chloe and I took a trip to the Adelphi Theatre in London, a birthday present from her to me, to see Back to the Future: The Musical and put simply, it did not disappoint.
This was the second time I had seen the show, the first being when it opened in Manchester back in 2020, which is something I do, and will continue to, brag about at every opportunity.
The film itself is my all-time favourite and so when the story was retold in a musical theatre fashion, and as a self-proclaimed ‘thespian’, my dreams came true.
