WATCH: FORRM’s Firouz FarmanFarmaian teases ‘Palazzo’, BOUTIQUE and new film project on Music News Blitz’s Artist Spotlight

FORRM’s Firouz FarmanFarmaian has returned to Music News Blitz’s Artist Spotlight, revealing new details about upcoming single ‘Palazzo’, the evolving BOUTIQUE project and his next feature film.

Speaking to Music News Blitz’s Anna Ferraz and Will Gardener from Essaouira, Morocco, the multi-disciplinary artist explained how music, cinema, poetry and visual art continue to overlap within FORRM’s creative process.

FarmanFarmaian’s work has increasingly blurred the boundaries between different artistic mediums.

That philosophy is central to BOUTIQUE, which was previously described to Music News Blitz as a cinematic project incorporating psychedelic rock, electronic textures and experimental production, writes Music News Blitz’s Anna Ferraz.

Artistic philosophy

His documentary PATH features an original soundtrack by experimental rock ensemble FORRM, while his wider practice spans contemporary art, film and music.

Discussing the relationship between these projects, he explained: “We don’t think of an album as a release and a work per se. We think that creativity has to have its fluid evolution forward and be cross-media and cross-cultural.”

FORRM prepares to release ‘Palazzo’

Attention is now turning towards ‘Palazzo’, a track whose foundations emerged from FORRM’s performance at Palazzo Dandolo in Venice.

The collective performed as part of FarmanFarmaian’s Voyage in Inexistant Land exhibition in 2025, with the performance subsequently becoming part of the installation’s immersive soundscape.

FarmanFarmaian told Music News Blitz that the song gradually developed following the Venice performance before being completed in the South of France.

He described ‘Palazzo’ as just “one of the moving parts of this larger psychedelic approach”, with BOUTIQUE set to extend far beyond a conventional album release.

Among the ideas currently being explored are an accompanying conceptual art film and an audio poetry collection inspired by the record.

From BOUTIQUE to Season of the Witch

The creative momentum is also feeding directly into FarmanFarmaian’s upcoming feature film, Season of the Witch, which is currently in development.

FORRM has already recorded hours of material intended to help create what FarmanFarmaian calls the film’s “sonic universe”, with influences including Pink Floyd, Radiohead and the traditional Gnawa music of Morocco.

For FarmanFarmaian, that continuous movement between mediums remains fundamental.

“For me, everything is interconnected,” he said.
