‘Man’s Best Friend’ is here: Sabrina Carpenter’s newest album has finally been released!

Friday, August 29 2025 saw the release of pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter’s newest studio album Man’s Best Friend.

The single “Manchild” from the album was released prematurely on June 5, a hilarious skit-like song degrading the intelligence of men and getting us very excited for the rest of the songs to be out.

Music News Blitz writer and extreme Sabrina Carpenter fan Evie Scroggie has been nonstop listening to the album since its release and discusses her four favourites.

Manchild

Beginning with the first song released from Man’s Best Friend, “Manchild” is a disco energy pop song with a country tinge.

It’s characteristically an attack on emotionally immature men, flooded with sarcastic jabs, eg “Why so sexy if so dumb?” and “half your brain just ain’t there”.

The song just overall embodies the mental exhaustion women go through when men take advantage of them without reciprocating the love and care that they receive. Love turns to emotional fatigue, and Sabrina describes it perfectly, in a witt,y playful way.

The frustration of emotional labour mixed with her humorous male critique in the form of synth-disco pop is enough to get every girl and guy that’s been through such annoyance singing, dancing and laughing.

And even if you haven’t gone through it, you’re still singing, dancing and laughing.

We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night

"Almost Broke Up Again Last Night” is a slower lyrical acoustic song based on an emotional storytelling of an unstable relationship she finds herself in.

The opening line of the song “Bulls**t repeats itself” is an unfortunate replacement of the common phrase “history repeats itself”, immediately setting the tone to the listener that the upcoming lyrics will discuss a relationship trapped within a predictable loop of conflict then forgiveness.

The chorus of the song perfectly encapsulated the repetitive nature of arguments, then apologies, then intimacy, then superficial reconciliation, then back to the beginning, where the cycle just repeats itself again.

The push and pull dynamics of this relationship is echoed throughout the song, discussing near breaking moments where she feels at her wits' end with the relationship, just for it to start fixing itself before one manages to “pull the plug”.

The lyrics of this song reflect the aspects of many toxic relationships where a partner’s redeeming qualities are enough to keep them together despite the mental torture they put each other through.

Go Go Juice

Unlike the previous song, “Go Go Juice” moves Sabrina’s musical journey from being stuck within a repetitive, toxic relationship to navigating life after a breakup.

The premise of this song is using alcohol and partying to get over the end of a relationship, stating, “good old-fashioned fun sure numbs the pain”.

She embraces the wild side of a breakup: drinking in the morning, calling up multiple exes and going clubbing. It's not glamorous, but it’s young-girl realistic, which is why we appreciate it.

She humorously explores coping mechanisms in the style of country pop, blending escapism with self-awareness. She knows this behaviour isn’t right, but it’s enough to keep her spirits up for now, and that’s all someone needs immediately after heartbreak.

 Goodbye

I don’t know about you, but all I can hear when I listen to this song is ABBA. It’s disco, it’s orchestral, it’s upbeat and vibrant, it’s just completely and utterly ABBA.

As the final track on the album, the song ‘Goodbye’ is exactly what it says on the tin. It’s the finishing send-off to the era of life she’s been singing about, more specifically, a statement of closing the chapter with the ex she’s been singing about throughout.

This song explores the feelings accompanied with a sudden breakup, and how rewarding it feels to finally be able to emotionally recover from and let go of that person.

Sabrina delivers many multilingual “goodbyes” throughout, “sayonara”, “adios”, “arrivederci”, “au revoir”, etc. This adds a playful kick to the overall message, I’m not just finished with you in one sense, but in every aspect of life.

“Goodbye” acts as a bold declaration of dismissal. It was the ex that broke them apart, and she’s so over it.

Throughout the song, you see her begin to recognise what she is worth, and you almost go through that growth with her.

Despite its playful tune and witty undertones, the overall message of this song is incredibly powerful and arguably one of her best.

Overall opinions

The release of Man’s Best Friend has been a long-awaited moment for many Carpenters out there, and it’s safe to say we are not disappointed. Especially not the ones who have recently gone through relationship struggles themselves.

Many skits on TikTok have already been made claiming that Sabrina was hiding in their walls and taking notes on their own situations in order to gain inspiration for the songs.

Though I can’t see Sabrina lurking in her fans’ shadows with a notepad and pen, her music is no doubt relatable to many young girls and guys out there who are currently going through it, and it’s that relatability that is a quality fans have always loved and continue to love.

Though I don’t think it comes close to one of her previous albums, Emails I Can’t Send, it’s still definitely an album we will have on repeat for a long, long time.
