Music news: Former G.R.L member Lauren Bennett has passed away at age 36

Lauren Bennett has passed away at the age of 36, writes Music News Blitz’s Tyler Lai Sai.

The former G.R.L member and Party Rock Anthem singer passed away on 29 May 2026.

Her passing was announced on Monday, 6 July by her former band G.R.L on their Instagram account.

Cause of death

Although there isn’t a clear reason as to how she passed away, Bennett’s father released a heartfelt statement for his daughter on 7 July.

“Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication. As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her.”

He went on further to say that, “We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need.”

Bennett’s career

When Bennett was young, she would enter local talent contests where she sang in pubs and bars before featuring on the X Factor UK.

Once she left the show, Bennett auditioned for the all-girl group Paradiso Girls.

Paradiso Girls were a group created by Robin Antin and were a spin-off of Antin’s popular girl group, The Pussycat Dolls.

Bennett also featured on the hit song Party Rock Anthem with LMFAO.

After its release, she joined the all-girl group G.R.L, best known for their song ‘Ugly Heart’, which became a hit song in 2014.

The band continued to release music until they disbanded in January 2015, nine months after the passing of their bandmate Simone Battle.

G.R.L then returned to the industry in late 2016 with new and old members including Bennett.

G.R.L tribute

On G.R.L’s Instagram, they stated, “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.”

Tributes on all social media platforms have been overwhelmingly kind about Bennett’s character and life.

“We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved,” stated G.R.L on their Instagram.
