Music news: Maisie Peters releases her third studio album ‘Florescence’
On May 22, Maisie Peters released her new 15-track album ‘Florescence’, reports Music News Blitz writer Bella Ford.
In the record produced under Atlantic Records and Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records, Peters continues to navigate life in her twenties.
The project is about the journey of growing up and the process of adulthood, with some songs exploring heartbreak and reflecting on the past.
Florescence’s impression
Peters described the album as “softer and more gentle in many ways.”
To achieve this, the music uses more country and acoustic softness, adding a greater sense of intimacy compared to her more pop style from ‘The Good Witch’.
On the stripped-back ‘Flat Earther,’ she discusses deluding herself that an ex was in love with her while another ‘old-fashioned’ man rolls his eyes at women in an attempt to flatter them.
Despite the gentler feel, songs like ‘My Regards’ and ‘Kingmaker’ still bring some edge and passion to the record.
This album includes songs in collaboration with Marcus Mumford (‘If You Let Me’) and Julia Michaels (‘Kingmaker’).
A fun teaser and first look
Peters first teased the album in January 2026 with a trailer that included social media comedian and talk show host Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Dimoldenberg also helped curate Peters’ vision.
The trailer was a sneak peek of the album to come and featured a recreation of the iconic Halloween scene from the film ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging’.
Georgia Groome, who plays the film’s main character, even appeared in a cameo. Groome was dressed as the olive, just like in the movie, while Maisie was a daisy.
The daisy symbolism, as well as the involvement of these iconic figures, showcases how far Peters has come and grown, which manifests as a central theme across this record.
Previous whereabouts
Peters has been making music for a few years now.
Her first record was ‘You Signed Up For This’ in 2021, and was notably the first record to be signed to Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records.
The album included hit singles like ‘Psycho’ and ‘John Hughes Movie’.
She then released her second studio album, ‘The Good Witch’, two years later, which was followed by the recent ‘Florescence’.
Peters decided on the name ‘Florescence’ because it means to blossom and to bloom, complementing the daisy in the trailer.
This constant theme of growth represents the major feelings, overall message and story she wanted to tell about blooming into the next chapter of life.
Major support for Florescence
Peters has opened for Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour in London.
“I was really honoured to be asked to be on the Eras Tour. It was such a great day and just so much fun,” she said to Billboard.
Ed Sheeran, whom she also opened for, has been a big part of the record.
Peters revealed to Billboard that she played him a lot of the album while she was making it in Suffolk, and he has attended many of her shows showing support.
Maisie Peters’ 15-track ‘Florescence’ is out now, and you can see her perform at the O2 in London on May 8 2027.
