Music news: Olivia Rodrigo returns with third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ out this week
Olivia Rodrigo took the globe by storm just five years ago when she released her debut single ‘Drivers Licence.’
Since then, the singer has reached many musical milestones, including selling out tours worldwide and winning three Grammy awards.
Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, will be released this Friday, June 12.
Here, Music News Blitz writer Grace Moore explains everything we know about the album so far.
How many tracks are on the album?
you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love features thirteen new original tracks. Rodrigo has taken a new creative direction with this album, with the tracks being split into two groups.
The first half of the album is titled ‘girl so in love,’ which is a group of love songs.
The subsequent six tracks on the album are grouped under the name of ‘you seem pretty sad,’ indicating a more melancholic mood shift in this section of the record.
The album rollout began earlier this year, when the lead single ‘drop dead’ was released in April. The second song from the album ‘the cure’ was released in May.
Both songs also have music videos to accompany them.
Olivia Rodrigo’s first feature
Not only is this album a change for Rodrigo in terms of its colour scheme and aesthetic, but it also marks the release of Olivia’s first official collaboration.
During a surprise set at Primavera Festival last weekend, Rodrigo brought out The Cure’s frontman, Robert Smith, for a debut performance of their still unreleased collaboration ‘what’s wrong with me,’ which features on the album.
It's clear to see that Smith is one of Rodrigo’s musical inspirations, as he also appeared as a special guest alongside the singer during her headline slot at Glastonbury in June 2025.

Is Olivia Rodrigo touring this album?
Olivia Rodrigo announced the Unraveled Tour, which begins September 2026 in the USA.
Rodrigo will also tour multiple cities in Europe, including an outstanding eleven nights at the O2 Arena in London next April and May.
There will be many talented acts joining the Unraveled Tour as support, including bands like The Last Dinner Party, Wolf Alice and Grace Ives.
It is also expected that Rodrigo will announce more dates across other continents around the world.
Will the album reach No.1?
There's no doubt at all that Rodrigo’s third album will climb the global charts.
With her previous albums, SOUR (2021) and GUTS (2023), debuting at No.1 on the Billboard 200, it's not ambitious to expect the same for you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
