Music news: Phoebe Bridgers adds more dates to 2026 arena tour

American indie darling Phoebe Bridgers is making her solo comeback with a 2026 arena tour with special musical guests Alex G and Isaac Wood, writes Music News Blitz’s Arwen Lehmann.

The singer-songwriter, known for her emo ballads and gut-wrenching lyrics, hasn’t performed as a solo artist for about three years.

This hiatus has concluded with a recent string of acoustic pop-up shows all around the US.

Bridgers announced the dates to her North American, UK and European tour the day after a surprise Madison Square Garden concert on June 5.

An additional nine tour dates have been added, coming to a grand total of 43 shows.

The kick-off show will be on September 14 in Indianapolis.

The singer also confirmed a few days ago on her Instagram that, like her pop-up shows, the tour will be phone-free.

Each concertgoer will be given a Yondr pouch that will only be unlocked after each show ends.

Who are the special guests?

The American indie-folk, bedroom-pop artist Alex G will be opening Bridgers’ North American shows.

He is most known for his 2012 project ‘Trick’ which features fan favourites such as ‘Mary’ and ‘Sarah’. The songs harken back to 90s lofi indie rock, which has become Alex G’s signature sound.

His latest album ‘Headlights’ was released last year.

Far from the bedroom, his more polished sound has been perceptibly produced in a studio which has allowed more experimental playfulness from the artist.

But what has really captured Bridgers’ fans’ attention is the inclusion of Isaac Wood’s name on the tour schedule.

Wood was famously the frontman of English alternative rock outfit Black Country, New Road.

The lead vocalist and guitarist left the band in 2022 after the release of their highly praised second album ‘Ants from Up There’.

The English singer cited mental health as the reason for his departure. Wood, however, is back after a 4-year hiatus and joins Bridgers for the European and UK leg of her tour.

With the announcement of the newly-added tour dates, Bridgers also invited the singer Anaïs to join her tour alongside Wood in Europe and the UK.

What do we know about Bridgers’ third solo album?

So far, the ‘Motion Sickness’ singer has not confirmed or announced a third solo album, much to her fans’ dismay.

However, this has not stopped widespread speculation surrounding details of her possible third album.

A collection of photographs of Bridgers in the studio were leaked on Instagram and X.

The photographs depicted Bridgers alongside The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, as well as producer Jack Antonoff, singer Christian Lee Hutson and Alex G.

A few days ago, NYLON Magazine released some details of Bridgers’ Madison Square Garden concert.

A setlist was included, showing a total of eight new songs amongst some of the singer’s beloved hits such as ‘Kyoto’, ‘Scott Street’ and ‘I Know the End’.

The magazine described Bridgers’s new sound as: “Phoebe at her best: clever and hyper-specific, often sad, but even more often funny.”

The singer’s last album ‘Punisher’ was released in 2020. The project appeared in ‘Best Album of the Year’ lists of major publications such as Pitchfork, NPR and Rolling Stone.

If the acclaim for her previous album is anything to go off of, then fans can be confident in their excitement for Bridgers’ new project.
