Music news: Sam Fender and Olivia Dean join forces and announce collaboration rendition of ‘Rein Me In’
Sam Fender confirmed on June 17 that he has collaborated with pop-soul artist Olivia Dean on his song “Rein Me In”, which will be released Friday, June 20.
The original song was featured on his album People Watching, which was released in February of this year and has since gained hundreds of millions of streams, writes Music News Blitz’s Amelie Da Costa.
A steady rise since 2017
Fender has been in the music industry since 2017, when he made his breakthrough with his debut single, “Play God,” which is now one of his most popular releases to date. He has further released three studio albums.
Since then, the indie rock artist has undertaken three concert tours - the Hypersonic Missiles Tour, the Seventeen Going Under Tour and the People Watching Tour, which is currently ongoing.
The People Watching Tour commenced on December 2, 2024 and will go on until November 28, 2025, with 56 shows across the world.
Supporting acts for the tour are Olivia Dean, Young Jesus, Holly Humberstone and others.

Dean joins Fender on stage in Newcastle
During his Newcastle show on June 15th, Fender surprised fans by bringing out Olivia Dean, who performed the live collaboration version of “Rein Me In”.
He then took to Instagram, posting two photos - one of him and Olivia on stage and another of the single’s cover - with the caption: “Lots of you asking for this one after we played it at the stadium shows so here we go!!”, followed with the release date.
Subsequently, thousands of fans have expressed their support and excitement in the comments of the post, anticipating the release this Friday.
A rare move in Fender’s discography
Fender has collaborated with several artists throughout his career, such as Noah Khan on “Homesick” and Holly Humbersotn on a version of “Seventeen Going Under”.
However, this will be the first time since his debut that he officially releases a collaboration of his original song on streaming platforms.
Many fans are looking forward to the release and the possible future collaborations he may have with other artists.
