A thunderous start

Let’s start with the good, maybe even the fact that there’s lots of it.

The show kicks off with the ever-so-fitting “Hello”, where the lads remind us that “it’s good to be back.”

The lyrics alone and title of the song make for a fantastic opening track that surely brings the energy into the venue with a classic tune that feels almost as if it’s greeting the fans who have been so desperate to see them all this time.

Then it’s onto “Acquiesce”, a rock and roll classic for the band that wastes no time in bringing pace and excitement with its iconic chorus.

For many, this song will be reminiscent of the incredibly unforgettable performance at Knebworth in 1996.

This again feels like a song that fans have yearned to see the two brothers perform once more.

Classic after classic

The ride only accelerates from here, as spectators are treated with a run of “Morning Glory”, “Some Might Say”, “Bring It On Down”, “Cigarettes & Alcohol”, “Fade Away”, “Supersonic” and “Roll With It”.

None of these songs can be understated - we all know how good they are.

Special shout-out to “Fade Away”, which is a personal favourite from Definitely Maybe that I wouldn’t have expected to see on this list.

A shift in pace

The band will then move onto a slower, more emotional run of songs - “Talk Tonight”, “Little By Little”, “D’You Know What I Mean”, “Stand By Me” and “Cast No Shadow” arriving to calm the blitzing Rock n Roll pace evening a little.

This will give opportunities for more sentimental points of enjoyment, and maybe even a break from all the poznan dancing that has been seen at Cardiff.

A few surprises - and familiar moments

“Whatever” then kicks off, another staple that would never have been omitted from the setlist.

Fans familiar with previous performances will also be aware that live versions of this song usually concludes with a transition into the Ringo Beatles classic “Octopus’ Garden” - don’t fret, it’s still there.

“Live Forever” also makes a return, with the emotional song often being used to pay tributes to fallen greats, with images of legends such as John Lennon being shown on screen in past performances.

In the ‘25 tour, it has been reported that this song pays a similar tribute to the life of former Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, a moment of respect that looks to be done with strong consideration.

Finishing with power

The ‘final’ track (before the encore) is “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”, a song that is so undeniably Oasis.

Then it’s for the four songs that were absolutely never going to be missed: the ballad that is “The Masterplan”, timeless colossuses “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Wonderwall”, before a final goodbye with “Champagne Supernova”.

If you’re reading this article then you should know these ones - if not, then listen to them. They’re pretty good.

What’s missing?

But what songs are missing? Which could get swapped out? While there’s still potential for setlist changes, here are a few that don’t seem to have been played.

One glaring omission appears to be “She’s Electric” from (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?.

This is one that many may consider to be on a pedestal around the final four tracks in the list. For me this is one that has to be there, but of course, something would have to be sacrificed.

A track of such calibre must be on there and for this reason I’d probably consider swapping it out for “Bring It On Down”, which is really one of the weakest in an incredibly strong bunch.

An honourable mention goes to “Don’t Go Away”, a heartbreaking song that I personally don’t think would make the setlist objectively. But because this is my list and I’d want to hear it, then it gets in over “D’You Know What I Mean”.

Other tracks that are missing include “Bonehead’s Bank Holiday”, “Hey Now!” and “Step Out”, all of which I would struggle to pick between.

If I had to pick a track to swap out for one of these it would unfortunately have to be (don’t get mad at me) “Talk Tonight”, a fantastic track and one that is beautifully written, but simply one that I have less desire to see live than the others mentioned.

There are plenty other songs that fans have been wanting to see, with the example of “Round Are Way” being one that fans theorise could be seen at the Heaton Park gigs in Manchester.

I’m sure there are plenty that I haven’t mentioned that readers could make just as strong an argument for making the cut.

Regardless of nitpicking one hit over another, it’s fair to say there’ll be little to no complaints about the show.

Music fans worldwide are making what feels like the ultimate pilgrimage to tick off a bucket list experience many thought they’d never get the chance to - just enjoy it.
