Tyla returns with sultry new single “Bliss”

Grammy-winning South African star Tyla has returned with the sultry new single “Bliss,” released May 9, 2025.

It’s her first solo single since last year’s chart-topping debut album. TYLA.

Tyla teased the song during her Coachella 2025 set and even partnered with upscale grocer Erewhon on a “Bliss” smoothie, with proceeds benefiting a South African girls’ charity.

In typical style, the single was rolled out with steamy cover art and cryptic social teasers, priming fans well in advance.

Sound and style

“Bliss” fuses Tyla’s Afropop and amapiano roots with glossy pop/R&B hooks. Producers Nolan Lambroza, Dylan Wiggins and NovaWav lay down a hypnotic Afrofusion beat for Tyla’s breathy vocals to ride.

In her own words, Tyla says she’s evolved her sound - “It’s different, but also still Tyla” - pointing to a fresh direction that remains true to her signature style.

Visuals and teasers

Tyla has stoked excitement with high-fashion visuals to match the new track’s mood. In a Vogue behind-the-scenes video, she reveals the song “makes me cry every time” and that she couldn’t resist debuting it at Coachella - “I previewed it at Coachella…and my Tigers love it, so I’m happy.”

The single’s cover and promo images lean into the song’s warm, intimate vibe, emphasising golden light and sultry styling to match the lyrics.
