From music icons to beauty influencers: How Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez built global brand success

In today’s entertainment industry, success is no longer measured only by album sales, chart positions or sold ticket tours.

Superstars like Rihanna, Arianna Grande and Selena Gomez lead the industry by turning music fame into global personal brands.

Their journey shows how celebrities use their influence by applying entrepreneurial skills to advance far beyond the world of music, writes Music News Blitz’s Tabitha Kongo.

Rihanna: Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty

Music icon Rihanna first gained global recognition through her top-performing hits such as ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Work’ in the 2010s.

For more than a decade, Rihanna has transformed herself from a pop superstar into one of the world’s most influential businesswomen.

In 2017, she launched Fenty Beauty, a cosmetics brand that changed the beauty industry by offering an inclusive foundation range for all skin tones.

Fenty Beauty was a global success because the foundation was sold to consumers who were unable to buy a foundation that matched their skin tone.

Later, she expanded her business with Savage X Fenty, a lingerie brand line known for embracing body positivity and diversity.

She has since become a billionaire with a net worth of over $1.4 billion.

Rihanna has built a business that has led to a cultural impact and has become a representation for a new generation of artists seeking to take their careers further beyond music.

In addition to her fragrance collection, Grande launched R.E.M. beauty, a cosmetics line focused on creativity that mirrors her personal style.

The brand appeals to fans and makeup lovers, boosting her entrepreneurial status by matching her personal aesthetic.

Selena Gomez: Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez started her career as a Disney star before becoming a popular musician, with hit songs like ‘Come and Get It’, ‘Lose You to Love Me', and 'The Heart Wants What It Wants’.

In 2020, she launched Rare Beauty, a makeup line that promotes self-acceptance.

The brand quickly became popular for its high-quality products and message of inclusivity.

Rare Beauty stands out from other celebrity lines because it prioritises mental health awareness, supported by Gomez sharing her own personal experiences with the battle of mental health.
